Sounds of Praise and Reformation

August 16, 2017 by ACDA Leave a Comment

This fall we celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation and the Music of Martin Luther.  Host Stan Schmidt starts us moving in that direction for our next Going Beyond Words broadcast on ACDA Radio.  Also, please examine the informative article in the August 2017 of the Choral Journal on page 36 by Zebulon M. Highben from Muskingum University titled “Reviving Sacred Song – 500 years of the Lutheran Chorale and its congregational and Choral Contexts”………You will hear music by Johann Walter; Johann Sebastian Bach; Heinrich Schütz; Georg Philipp Telemannm Philippus de Monte; Johann Schelle, and Harald Gullichsen of Norway.   Artists involved in this presentation are the Cappella Amsterdam, The Bach Ensemble with Helmuth Rilling, The Tapiola Chamber Choir; Madgeburger Kammerchor,  The King’s Consort with Robert King,  The Urainenborg Vokalensemble from Norway plus the Thomanerchor of Leipzig…..This program was originally produced for October 27, 2013.

For a look at the CD’s used and a complete list of the music heard go to the blog of WWW.GOINGBEYONDWORDS.COM website and click on show 2003
