It was almost two years ago that ACDA launched a new offering – the ACDA Career Center. Though classified postings have been offered on ChoralNet for a number of years, we had been looking for ways to be more in touch with how people currently search for and list job openings. After some research, we were pleased to find that partner in YourMembership.
As we have been working to revamp ACDA’s online presence and update ChoralNet, we decided that this is a logical time to stop trying to maintain and juggle job postings on two very different sites and to move all permanent positions over to the ACDA Career Center.
Our Career Center offers many options for both job seekers and employers. Job seekers have free access to many more job postings than we used to offer since the current center can pull appropriate listings from YourMembership’s larger network. In addition to searching listings, seekers can create a profile and upload a curriculum vita that stays private until they decide to send it to an employer, or give permission for an employer to view it. Additionally, if seekers are looking in a specific geographic area, or for a certain type of position, they can create a job alert that will notify them every time a posting that fits that criterion is created. The result is that job seekers can streamline the job search process and more easily stay up to date on appropriate options for them.
If you are an employer, take a look at http://acda.careerwebsite.com/. Click on Employers in the right-hand column to see the options, including looking over the types of job postings available and the costs, as well as how to create an employer profile, post a position, and easily manage the applicants who respond to your posting. There is a cost to employers to list their positions, which depends on whether they are ACDA members or not, and how long they wish the post to stay active. In exchange, we offer connection to choral conductors – ACDA members and others – who are connected to their professional association and among the most qualified in the profession.
The ACDA Career Center is the best possible place for employers and job seekers in the choral arts to find each other. One indicator of that is that last month there were over 9,000 views of jobs listed in the Career Center. We believe that this new format benefits both employers and job seekers. As always, we appreciate your constructive feedback.
