This Piece Would Program Well With: I Hear America Singing by James Johnson available on the Composition Showcase
As I was sitting in my Turkey blind yesterday hoping to bag Thanksgiving dinner for the freezer, I thought about the country I live in. I’m a pretty patriotic guy and I was a little bored so I started thinking about patriotic songs. America, The Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful came to mind. Then God Bless America filtered through the stirring leaves in my mind and I thought about how much I dislike that piece. I did what everyone does when thinking about Thanksgiving and thought about what I am thankful for. I am thankful that George Simon wrote a patriotic song that could replace God Bless America as the go to song for most patriotic American soloists.
The PDF given is for an SATB version but the recording is of a different solo with backing choir edition which is also available.
Anthem for the Millennium (America, My Home) is available from the George Simon.
