I will pause from time to time in my blogging on the topic of innovation to offer some "bottom lines" and "take homes" from what I am blogging about.
Here is a bit of distillation in the form of a list based upon ideas offered to date on ChoralNet regarding innovation:
- Observe everything, and take notes–Remember Leonardo da Vinci's description of himself… "…disciple of life…", and remember Leonardo's notebooks;
- Play with your workplace in a way that sends positive messages and body language to colleagues, employees, students, and visitors regarding your quest for innovation;
- Think "verbs" instead of "nouns" in your work so that you create wonderful experiences for everyone who comes in contact with you;
- Innovate by working through multiple boxes, not just outside the box, and when you fail, fail FORWARD so that change is part of the culture you create;
- Within even a "statis quo" place or environment, create a "hot group" that will think outside the box and through multiple boxes with you;
- Pursue collaboration as a bridge to innovation.
