Stick Time: Choral Wake-Up Call, part 1

Without a doubt it is valuable for us as professional musicians to freshen our ears from time to time with a diversity of sounds, and the summer is a great time for a little “sonic sorbet” (Tito Puente, por favor!)

 

But NEWS FLASH:  summer is over.  The time has come for all of us to focus our musical mentality on the tasks at hand.  That means listening to choral music for both our own artistic edification, and (probably more importantly) to give ourselves an aural benchmark against which to measure the sounds we are hearing in our own rehearsals.
