There are many reasons I love this piece. I am always looking for music that can help my choirs to grow. You Having Walked This Earth offers many learning opportunities. The harmonies move fairly slowly in a homophonic texture giving singers a chance to experience and truly hear each chord. There are no dynamic, tempo or other expressive markings given by the composer. Use this opportunity to discuss how to be most expressive with your singers. The harmonies are beautiful and accessible to your audience while still having enough depth to inspire your aesthetic sensibilities. It is an enjoyable work that I will come back just to listen to.
