It probably wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that most of a singer’s choral experience takes place in an educational institution. Certainly, a significant percentage of those of us in the choral profession are conducting ensembles connected in one form or another with an educational institution.
The problem, of course, is that eventually we all leave school; we graduate and move onto the big board game called life.
Must graduation signal the end of a choral singing life? Of course not! Singers can (and we believe should) continue to have access to high-caliber chorale experiences throughout their life Life-long singing is one of the goals of ACDA.
Here is a performance by a community choir from a recent ACDA divisional conference. Clearly, these singers continue to engage in a choral life that is artistic, enriching, and undoubtedly pleasing.
