This Piece Would Program Well With: Song of Oisín by Michael McGlynn available from Anúna.
I have never heard an Irish Folk song I didn’t like. The use of place names brings a familiarity to unfamiliar places and makes my heart long to see those places again though I have never been. An Irish song that mentions America has just that much more appeal to me. It seems only fitting that an American composer from Pennsylvania should arrange this particular song. Perhaps the lover who sought the Maid of Colnore passed through his town.
Joseph Gregorio has artfully and passionately arranged The Maid of Culmore. Listen and hear the pain and promise of one who missed his chance with the girl he loves.
This piece is available from the composer.
