Everything – EVERYTHING – in our obscenely media-obsessed world is designed to over-stimulate us (and separate us from our hard-earned cash). You are bombarded continually and from every direction with pernicious messages screaming that you are too fat . . . that your partner is beneath you . . . that your kids aren’t playing with the best toys . . . that your politics makes you a creep . . . that your life isn’t cool enough . . . that your techno-gadgets aren’t up-to-date. It is relentless. It is unhealthy. It is sub-human.
Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop.
This weekend find a park, a meadow, some natural place with no signs of humanity. Unplug for an hour; go off the grid for just one hour. Listen to the wind rustling autumn leaves. Watch squirrels foraging for something to eat. Ponder what is REAL, what is important.
You will find yourself in a better mental place. (And, yes . . . I see the irony of utilizing a digital platform to encourage you to unplug. Do it anyway.)
