Wow – Can you imagine THIS being sung today in our churches? It should be – especially with economic news that has driven so many workers to the point of despair that they’ve stopped looking for jobs. But, the question that comes to mind is, if the situation is so bad, and people are in such a state of despair, why aren’t the churches flooded? Have organized religions tied their future too much to economic success? Think about who’s driving “men go(ing) to hell…” And one more time, the hymn talks to what I argue is the Eighth Deadly Sin – the Sin of Indifference. “Who cares?” “I want mine, and you can go to hell…” Listen up, folks; listen to yourself talking and thinking; what are you doing to follow the Master?
