It must have been a busy weekend, because I’m late with a Monday morning ChoralBlog.

I found this little gem recently: the Boy Choir & Soloist Directory.

Why do I like it so much?

Because it has a great directory of lyrics for well known choral pieces! Don’t we all search for the lyrics of the pieces we do for our programs now?

I just typed in “If ye love me” lyrics and got the Boy Choir site.

A big thank you to the people of the world that enrich the internet with useful information!

While the lyrics directory is surely useful, I’ve long been a bit concerned about websites devoted to boy treble singers (not necessarily the site linked in this post, however) that focus on individual prepubescent singers, rather than on the artform in general or on boychoirs. My concern involves the possible motivations of some of the adult males who are such ardent fans of individual singers, given the well-publicized problems with pedophilia, especially online. I hope my concerns are entirely unfounded and that the users of all such sites have nothing but pure motives, but I’m not sure that’s the case.
