Student members of the American Choral Directors Association are encouraged to let their voice be heard regarding the Strategic Planning Membership Survey that is currently available through the ACDA website. Constitutionally, the only members of ACDA that vote in elections are “Active Members”, but ACDA is opening its important Stratetic Planning Survey to student members. This variation in the voting process is due to the importance ACDA places on future members and future ACDA leadership. At this point in the survey, 22% of ACDA’s active membership has participated in our important Strategic Planning Survey.
To participate in the survey, student members should go to https://eballot4.votenet.com/acda/login.cfm, and will need their membership number and zip code to verify membership. The ACDA membership number is found on the mailing label of Choral Journal, or through the membership information mailed from the ACDA National Office.
The Strategic Planning Survey asks participants to prioritize such areas of ACDA activity as performance, repertoire, advocacy, technology, mentorship, choral experiences for all ages, international initiatives, and more, for the ongoing allocation of ACDA’s attention and resources. This survey is part of a larger Strategic Planning process that will be the focus of ACDA’s summer Leadership Conference in Dallas in June, followed by the work of various committees in the months leading up to next year’s National Conference where the Strategic Plan will be presented for the first time to the membership.
There is still time for all ACDA members to participate in the survey. My goal is to see at least 1/3 of our membership participate in the ordering of these priorities through this online instrument.
