Get this kid in a choir now!

January 1, 2012 by philip copeland Leave a Comment

Jay Greenberg, also known as Bluejay, is a musical prodigy.  He is compared to Mozart, Mendelssohn, and others.

Tell me, have you ever been compared to Mozart by a professor from Juliard?

We need to get young Jay into a choir so he can discover the glories of text and music.  And fast!

Hat tip:  My good friend Nancy had this on her Facebook wall and I nabbed it to share with the rest of you.

ONLY if he has the interest, and ONLY if it is to HIS ultimate good.  While I would theoretically agree it would be to his ultimate good, it will not be so if it interferes in any way with the gift he already has.  Did you really listen to how the music exists in his head, Phillip?  Whole, complete, and not to be tampered with in any way by any ratiocination – the interviewer asks at one point if he (Bluejay) sometimes thinks it might be good to have the oboes or horns enter at some point, and he answers, “No, they seem to come in when they want to.”  The kid himself admits that this is not something that he seems to have any control over.  So why are you promoting anything that requires some sort of external control?  He’s getting music theory classes at one of the premier music programs in the country – isn’t that enough?  For God’s sake, let’s be grateful for the gift he has and leave him alone!!!!
