ACDA has been encouraging the ChoralNet development team to make its Communities more useful for both internal ACDA uses and general ChoralNet uses. Accordingly, ChoralNet is waking up this morning with expanded Community features.
Right away you'll notice a new appearance for the communities, with an internal navigation bar, eliminating the need for sidebar navigation or insets. The Community's description now has an entire page to itself, for communities which want to act like websites. The initial landing page for most Communities will be its forum, although Community editors can change this for individual Communities.
The "Communities" tab in the main navigation bar has a dropdown listing communities of which you are a member, if any.
The Library and Tagged items can be sorted or filtered to view any individual content type, and the library now can include many more file types, including MP3s.
Community forums are unmoderated. We hope this will encourage more discussion by eliminating delays in approving messages. (However, ChoralNet's main forums will continue to be moderated as before.) Each Community also has a live chat room for immediate discussion of Community topics; if you start a chat, all members of the Community who are online will see their Communities menu flash so they can join if they wish.
There are a few other features mainly of interest to Community editors; they can learn about them via the editors' help pages. You might also notice that the choir directory has a similar appearance, although its functionality isn't much changed.
