I saw this tweet other day from @katiesw1 where she discussed her choices for the top iPad apps for music teachers.
Her list included:
To me, her list reminds me of the days of technology in music education when most of the discussion surrounded keyboards, synthesizers, and music notation programs.
I use my iPad differently from others, I think. Here are three of my top iPad apps for the choral director. I'll add more in a later post.
1. GoodReader – everyone has this, I bet. I use it to store/view PDF's on my ipad. In recent days, I have used it to:
a. open the Presbyterian USA hymnal I scanned and use in church nearly every Sunday.
b. open scores I download from CPDL and IMSLP for study and perusal
c. open choral scores that I scanned from my personal library for study and perusal
[i'm not sure when the price climbed to 5.49 – i think i got this app for free or .99]
2. Nightstand.Moderno – One of my rehearsal rooms doesn't have a clock. Another doesn't have an accurate clock. I need an accurate time piece that allows me to start and end on time. This app never fails me.
3. Virtuoso Piano Free 2 HD – It certainly is easy to cary my iPad into a concert and put it on a music stand. From there, I give myself (and/or my choir) the pitch and go . . .
OK, iPad users, what are your top three for the choral conductor??
