I confess, my eyes glaze over a bit when I hear the phrase “strategic planning.” It sounds so . . . administrative.
I consulted the Book of Knowledge and found this clarifying sentence:
In order to determine where it is going, the organization needs to know exactly where it stands, then determine where it wants to go and how it will get there.
Makes sense, doesn’t it? So when we talk about the strategic plan, where, exactly, does ACDA stand?
In case you missed it, Executive Director Tim Sharp gave a comprehensive answer to that question last week in an extended blog post he called “The State of ACDA.” It is a comprehensive look at where we are – and it challenges us to look ahead to see where we are going.
I’ve never seen anything like it before in ACDA. I’m reminded that we really have the right person leading us – and how often can you say that about the person leading any organization?
Please take time to read what Tim has put forward for us. It is a great piece of work, and will serve as the foundation of where we are headed as an organization.
