Philip Lawson of the King’s Singers has announced his retirement from the group this coming January:
I have made the decision after 18 years of touring and recording with The King’s Singers, to move on, and begin the next phase of my career. It won’t come as a surprise to those who are familiar with the group’s work to discover that composing and arranging will form a large part of what I do next with a number of new pieces already commissioned .. . . I am really looking forward to being able to spend more time working from home. Of course the main excitement for me about moving on is that I finally get to spend more time with my fantastic family, who are counting the days until I unpack my suitcase for the last time in January next year.
Thanks for the great music, Philip, and I hope we see many more of your arrangements and compositions soon!
