Twitter for Teachers – and Choral Directors

September 4, 2010 by philip copeland Leave a Comment

This is my latest interest – personal learning networks.

As I was searching about this, I found a great website by Paul Hill along with a video.  Here is a great quote from the video:

“Twitter is a way of having open dialogue about learning with people we respect at a time that we choose in a way that doesn’t take us away from the classroom.”

Great idea to create these networks, but it only works if lots of people in your ‘world’ (in my case, the singing/ choral world) are on-line in the same way. Don’t know about anyone else, but the proportion of people in my (UK) choirs and singing workshops who have Twitter or Facebook accounts is negligible. Maybe they’re too busy actually singing!

Not sure if it’s quite the same as mentoring, Tim, since it’s more of a broadcast medium than a one-to-one medium.

Also, love the term “Personal Learning Networks”. Sounds like 21st century mentoring to me.
