Ah, the King’s Singers…I have vivid memories of 1975, as a brand new teacher fresh out of grad school, attending a concert by a relatively new group I’d not yet heard of, the King’s Singers, the original group with Simon Carrington. They performed in the chapel at Union College in Schenectady, New York, where I sat up front, just feet away from the singers, performing Victoria motets and a set of Poulenc motets….ah, the glorious sounds that were produced that night, a night of music making the likes of which I have never experienced again in all these years.
