More iPad for the Choral Musician

ChoralNet member Robert Eaton sent me a link to this website following my blog post yesterday on the iPad.

forScore, an upcoming app for the iPad, describes itself this way:

forScore was designed as a way to take thousands of pages of score with you on the go.  With innovative features like the audible & visual metronome, forScore is more than just a PDF reader– it’s an intuitive experience with a gorgeous and simple interface that allows you to put the music front and center, without distractions or bloat.

Instead of using in-app purchases or proprietary formats, we believe that using a file format as ubiquitous as PDF gives our customers unparalleled freedom to use their content the way they want. If you need a piece of score that’s not included by default, just add it!
It looks pretty good!

Thanks, Robert!

I’ve been tracking this app as well.  As of last week, the PDF feature wasn’t ready, so I’m glad to see that it is now.  There’s one more feature I’m waiting for is the ability to mark right on the page directly, as opposed to the current feature where you type notes about a page.  For any conductor, that’s just not good enough; I need to be able to mark specific measures, entrances, phrases, and so on.  This is someting they’ve alrady been made aware of and intend to implement.

This single app could make my life a lot easier if they do it right.  The next step will be to get all my hymnals in PDF format.
