I’m fairly sure I heard this group in Miami but I don’t remember it like I should – very beautiful:

    Philip,

After Paul’s review of your directing and the fabulous singing UAB Birmingham Concert Choir did, I think many of us would love to see a video of one of your pieces. Is that possible?

    Congrats!

    Warm regards,

    Tom

PS: I resonated with his description of your conducting, as Charlene Archibeque’s conducting struck me as very similar to that. Poetic, fluid — more dance-like than metric. (Which brings me to another point that I might bring up in the forums — as a singer, I have NEVER followed a conductor’s beat patterns. Why would I, since I don’t memorize measures or the placement of notes within those measures? So, I’m wondering if other singers have similar experiences, AND I’m wondering if your style is actually more appropriate for choral conducting, while a more beat-centric pattern would be more appropriate for instrumentalists (who don’t know the music as well, rarely memorize, and are looking at the conductor and following their scores ‘simultaneously.’)
