The 125-voice Summer Singers of Atlanta, under the direction of Andrew Phillip Schmidt since 2021, presents its 34th annual summer concert featuring works for chorus, organ and brass. Highlights include Mendelssohn’s Verlieh uns Frienden; Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine; Bruckner’s Locus iste and Os justi; Rutter’s Gloria and Glenn Rudolph’s The Dream Isaiah Saw. The chorus will be joined by the Festival Brass and Organist Dr. Nicole Marane.
There will be one performance on Sunday, August 4, 4:00 PM, at the Glenn Memorial Church and Auditorium on the campus of Emory University, 1660 North Decatur Road in Atlanta. Admission $25 at the door or ChoralFoundation.org/concerts
The Summer Singers of Atlanta is known as “Atlanta’s original summer chorus.” It was created in 1990 and has performed such works as Mendelssohn’s Elijah; Orff’s Camina Burana; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Mass in C; the Requiems of Mozart, Brahms and Rutter, and many other masterworks.
