“Illuminare,” a holiday concert

During this season of light, the New Jersey Choral Society presents Illuminare, their annual holiday concert on Saturday, December 14 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 15 at 3:00 pm at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 630 Valley Road, Wayne. A third performance will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 7:30 pm at West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe St., Ridgewood. 

This festive concert, under the direction of the new Artistic Director/Conductor Dr. Patrick Chiu, will feature Elaine Hagenberg’s original five-piece movement Illuminare inspired by the words “illuminate those in darkness…and direct our footpath in the way of peace” Luke 1:68-79. Hope, joy, and warmth will reverberate through many other uplifting holiday selections, including O Holy Night, John Rutter’s ethereal Candlelight Carol, the Chanukah celebration Eight Days of Light, Hail Holy Light, the quiet and serene Holy Night, Blessed Night and The Glory Manger, a traditional American Spiritual. The ever- popular holiday sing-along will also be included featuring Deck the Hall, Jingle Bells, O Christmas Tree and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.   

Linda Sweetman Waters will accompany NJCS on the piano and organ along with a trio chamber ensemble performing during Hagenberg’s Illuminbare. Several members of NJCS will also be featured soloists.

Tickets are $30 for general admission and $25 for students and seniors. There is an additional $5 discount for individuals with disabilities and up to three companions.
