Choral accompanists: Are you terrified of Open Score or do you love the challenge?
I’d like to invite you to a new online, on-demand Workshop on How to Read Open Score for choral accompanists. If you’ve ever opened a choral score and thought, “Where do I even start?” – you’re not alone. Most of us didn’t train specifically for this. We learned on the job, often without clear tools or guidance.
Here is what we will cover:
-
What to look for in a first reading
-
How to “triage” a score in real time
-
Practice tips to help you get comfortable with open score
Whether you are just getting started with a school choir, have played for your church choir for a couple of years, or are playing for an auditioned community chorus, you are welcome to join me for some practical strategies and hands-on exercises in open score reading.
My name is Cori Belle. I am a solo and collaborative pianist in the greater Seattle area, and I have worked with choirs as an accompanist for over 30 years.
You explain the priorities of an accompanist so clearly, and it was helpful to have a guide to reading open score for the first time. – Sophie
The 40-minute workshop is available on-demand for just $30. Access to the workshop includes a student workbook for use during and after the class, and an invitation to join a new online choral accompanist community.
