Houston Chamber Choir International Choral Conducting Competition

The Houston Chamber Choir is proud to launch its inaugural International Choral Conducting Competition!

This is an exciting new initiative that will showcase exceptional emerging choral conductors from around the world as they demonstrate their artistry, musicianship, and leadership.

Audiences are invited to experience the competition firsthand by observing the three finalists in open rehearsals on June 4 and 5, offering a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the collaborative process between conductor and professional ensemble.

The competition culminates on June 5 with a thrilling final concert—the capstone of our Journey’s season. This unforgettable evening will bring together our outstanding, Grammy Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir and three outstanding young conductors poised to become the next generation of choral leaders in the magnificent acoustics of South Main Baptist Church. The result will be a one-of-a-kind musical experience celebrating artistic excellence, discovery, and the future of choral music.
