4/30, Choral Masterworks by Morten Lauridsen and Stacy Garrop

The San Francisco Choral Society presents an evening of masterful choral works including the premiere of a new chamber orchestra version of Terra Nostra by Stacy Garrop. Co-commissioned in 2013 with the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir, the fully orchestrated version was originally premiered in San Francisco over the course of two years in 2014 and 2015. The composer describes this large-scale, three-part oratorio work “as a celebration of the planet, the rise of humanity and the search for a perfect balance between the earth and mankind.” Also featured on the program is Morten Lauridsen’s beloved Lux Aeterna, a five movement work based on various references to light from sacred Latin texts.
