On Sunday, Oct 15th, the Schiller Boston Community chorus will be joined by soloists from Boston, NY, and DC, for a Birthday Tribute to Sylvia Olden Lee, Master Musician and Teacher ( and also, President’s John F. Kennedy & John Quincy Adams), Three Profiles in Courage.
The chorus is open to all voice parts to join us to sing in this concert, who’s repertoire will include “a capella” Hall Johnson & William Dawson choral spirituals. These are wonderful to sing and I invite you to join us for this concert.
Choral rehearsals begin in Cambridge on Saturday, September 16th at 10:30am at the Democracy Center (45 Mt. Auburn st). No auditions necessary. Please bring $5 to help defray the cost of the room. Hope to see you there!
*Sylvia Olden Lee was an internationally renowned vocal coach & accompanist. This year would have marked her 100th birthday and we are having a year-long celebration, including a recent concert at Carnegie Hall. Ms. Lee was the first African-American professional hired at the Metropolitan Opera.
Thank you
Jen Pearl
Conductor, Schiller Boston Community Chorus
