Lacuna Arts Chorale (SF) is a 24–32 voice choral group specializing in unaccompanied works from all time periods from renaissance to modern. We have completed our first round of individual auditions but will still be accepting new members on a space-available basis during our “community-style” auditions Monday, September 12 from 6:30–9:30 pm at 2325 Union Street, SF (enter Steiner Street “Pixley House”). We currently have an opening for one tenor and one baritone/bass, and may have openings in other voice parts later in the season as well. Anyone interested in singing with us this season should attend on Sep. 12. The audition will consist of a short rehearsal and then the opportunity to sing in small groups (at least 2 on a part) with our current members, for a low-stress audition experience. Please let us know you’re coming so we can have music ready for you.
We rehearse Monday evenings from 6:30–9:30 pm in SF. This year’s repertoire includes the Howells Requiem, Hugo Distler’s Die Weihnachtsgeschichte (The Christmas Story) at Old First Concerts, Bach’s Jesu meine Freude and motets by Mendelssohn and Brahms, and madrigals by Lassus, Monteverdi and Morton Lauridsen. Check out our full rehearsal and performance schedule for more details.
Not sure if we’re the right group for you? Check out samples from previous performances at http://www.lacunaarts.org/listen/. I hope to see you next week!
Cheer,
Sven Edward Olbash
