The Rose Ensemble of Saint Paul, Minnesota announces openings for one soprano and one bass. Successful candidates will possess extraordinary musical abilities, a strong and enthusiastic work ethic, and an engaging stage personality. Requirements include at least two years of professional concert experience, solid sight-reading and non-English language-singing skills (typical Western European, Latin; Hebrew, Arabic helpful), and the ability to switch musical styles with ease, excelling in both ensemble and soloistic settings.
The Rose Ensemble’s performance schedule is filled with a variety of Minnesota-based, national and international appearances, recordings, educational programs and special projects. While the group’s continuously growing and demanding performance calendar varies from season to season, 2017-2018 (22nd year) will be particularly busy. The Rose Ensemble’s rehearsal schedule also varies; interested candidates are welcome to request a full performance/rehearsal schedule to determine availability/compatibility.
Preference will be given to candidates living near or considering re-locating to Minneapolis/St. Paul, but The Rose Ensemble welcomes submissions from all performers, regardless of home base.
To apply, please prepare the following:
– Current résumé – Two letters of recommendation – Audio and/or video samples featuring three works of contrasting style: at least two should be non-English language; one can be of folk style and/or oral tradition; two should be from pre-18th-century source material. PLEASE NOTE: Live-performance recordings are perfectly acceptable. Recordings featuring Verdi arias, bad accompanists, or singers in a practice room with an iPhone will be met with serious incredulity.
