I am seeking the accompaniment recording for The Pledge of Allegiance by Alfred Reed. It is no longer available from the publisher. I would like to use it for a virtual project entitled “Peace and Justice for All.” Peggy Dettwiler, Mansfield University

Don’t know that there was ever an official accompaniment tape from the publisher. It was originally published in 1970 and accompaniment tapes for octavos were rare then. If you are just wanting the music for a video or whatever just download one of the bands playing it on youtube. You must have a “video downloader” app or software to do that. “Ultimate Video Downloader” is an excellent way to download videos from youtube. You can download in several formats, mp3 which is just the music is one of them.

Peggy,
Try:

If you have a copy of the work, his rehearsal files will do an accompaniment track, from a PDF of the work.
Try & look it up on his site, if it’s already there you may be able to download it/or listen to hear if it’s what you want.
If it’s not listed, send the PDF to me — I have a subscription & will send it in for you.

Hi Peggy,
In seeing your request I would like to invite you to also consider a stirring, anthemic patriotic song “From Where We Stand”. This is the finale song from an upcoming musical (on hold until after covid) with Larry King as the executive producer “American Twistory”. We would be happy to contribute this song to you for your performances (no financial compensation) and I can send you sheet music, etc. if you are interested. Our only requirement is that you let me know if/when you will be performing it.
Here is a link to the music and also the lyric. (press download button)
