Choral Scholars
The Lincoln Choral Artists have 7 positions available (for Choral Scholars for the 2017-2018 season (1 soprano, 2 alto, 2 tenor, 2 bass). These positions are open to any college age or master’s level singers, 18 or older, who have interest in careers or work as singers or choral leaders, those currently singing in collegiate level choirs, undergraduate and masters level music majors looking for music performance opportunities, and students with a love of choral and solo singing.
Choral scholars will be offered opportunities in solo singing and small ensemble singing, conducting, section leading, composition, or publicity and concertizing development; fitting the strengths of each scholar as determined by the scholar and artistic director. Choral Scholars responsibilities include attending all rehearsals and performances, being a strong vocal leader within their assigned section, and maintaining good communication with the artistic director.
The yearly membership fee and cost for concert attire will be waived for each scholar per season.
Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:30- 9:30pm at Nebraska Wesleyan University, Rogers Center for Fine Arts, Choral rehearsal room. Rehearsals begin August 31st with concerts in November, December, March, and May. Choral scholars are required to sing for Jason Horner, artistic director,during a scheduled audition time.
This is an incredible opportunity to build your resume as a young musician. You will have the opportunity to serve in the community, build relationships with other musicians, develop rehearsal and performance skills, perform with a top quality auditioned ensemble, and perform music in many styles, including large choral masterworks.
