Description of Northminster Presbyterian Church and the Chancel Choir
• The members at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Evanston are diverse in many ways. We come from all over the United States — representing broad interests, varying religious backgrounds and spiritual orientations, different lifestyles, a multiplicity of talents, and a variety of personal, social and political concerns. We value the traditions of our founding members, seeking a deeper relationship with God through worship, prayer, personal study and service to others. We gather as a community to worship and grow in communion with God. We respect preaching of the Word that is theologically sound, spiritually challenging and practical in its application. In addition, Northminster is a More Light Presbyterian Church.
• The Chancel Choir is made up of 34-38 volunteer singers with a professional section leader in each section; we sing music styles from the Renaissance to Gospel and everything in between. We typically sing an Introit, two anthems, and concluding response for each service. Throughout the year the choir will participate in special concerts and sing larger works during services.
