Soprano and Alto section leaders

January 15, 2017 by Simon Berry Leave a Comment

St Dominic’s Catholic Church in San Francisco is looking for talented soprano and alto section leaders to join its Schola Cantorum. This is a well-known liturgical choir in the Bay Area that sings year round. The choir consists of 36 members, 10 of whom are professional musicians with an organ scholar.
The repertoire is 65% renaissance and recently included The Strathclyde Motets of James MacMillan and commissioned works David Conte, Robert Chastain and William Hawley. Concerts, recordings and occasional tours are important to the group. Upcoming performances include Mozart’s Requiem and Messiah (part 1).
Excellent sight reading and vocal control are essential. Commitments include Sundays 10:30 am – 12:45 pm, Thursday 7 – 9:30 pm and Holy Days through the year. Pay is per call, currently $62.50.
We have opportunities for work as a cantor at other Sunday Masses and weddings and funerals also.
