The Schiller Institute Chorus, NYC, is inviting singers of all voice types to join us for a Mass Chorus for the Sylvia Olden Lee Centennial Memorial Concert.
Thursday June 29, 2017, 7:30 pm at Carnegie Hall
Sylvia Olden Lee was the first African-American vocal coach hired by the Met, but she was much more than that. She was an extraordinary individual who gave the gift of musical insight to all she knew, inspiring all to fulfill their talent. Join the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus and some of her most prominent former students in a concert of African-American Spirituals, opera arias, and other great music as we celebrate her legacy and commitment to the unity of mankind.
All are welcome to join the chorus. Those who intend to sing should join chorus as soon as possible. Everyone who would like to be part of Carnegie Hall performance must join the chorus by March 31st, to allow enough time to adequately work with group on repertoire for concert.
Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in Brooklyn and Flushing, and Thursdays from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in Manhattan. Also, Tuesday 6-7:30pm in Northern NJ.
Call 646-509-5451 or visit www.sinycchorus.com for more information or to join the chorus.
The concert will be sponsored by the Foundation for the Revival of Classical Culture and performed at the Verdi tuning of A=432 Hz.
