La Camerata is looking for two sopranos, a tenor and bass to complete their 12 voice ensemble.
Our ensemble meets once a month for a two hour rehearsal to refine about an hour’s worth of choral music that each member is expected to learn on their own. So minimal rehearsals, but little to no note review at rehearsals.
We currently plan to have concerts a few times a year. Members may be invited to sing in other local choral events like Messiah.
Our repertoire ranges from Renaissance motets and madrigals through Vocal Jazz, so singers need to be flexible in their vocal technique. Voices should be confident and capable of blending with minimal to moderate vibrato. We are interested in creating a sound similar to The Sixteen or an ensemble from The Cambridge Singers.
The purpose of this ensemble is to present concerts of standard repertoire and lesser known gems from classic choral composers, with the intent of exposing audiences to the core of great choral music that is often neglected by choirs these days in favor of multi-cultural works or pieces by “in demand” composers. Although we may include some of these works in our concerts, the balance will be in favor of music that has stood the test of time, but is currently being neglected.
