The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception located in Waterbury, Connecticut is seeking professional or emerging professional singers to fill Soprano, Alto, & Tenor section leader positions. The choir sings a full range of liturgical music in a traditional Catholic choral tradition.
The choir sings at the 10AM mass every Sunday with one Thursday night rehearsal during the week. Section leaders are responsible for attending all scheduled rehearsals and services as requested by the director. In addition to the mass schedule, section leaders may have the opportunity to sing funerals, weddings, and other special events through-out the year.
We are seeking experienced, adult professional singer who can provide positive leadership for our volunteer choir members. College music students with significant choral experience are welcome to apply. The position runs late August through May. This is a part time, tax exempt position.

Hi Reuben. This is David Spitko, Artistic Director of The Choristers. http://www.TheChoristers.org. I also happen to be an employment attorney representing employers. What did you mean above when you wrote that the position is “tax-exempt”? Did you mean the singers are treated as independent contractors and issued a 1099? Or are you implying to potential applicants they need not report the income? If it is the latter, that is not accurate. Just wanted to make sure anyone reading this and considering applying understands that distinction.
