RC Church in Niles, IL (near north suburban CHICAGO) is holding auditions for SOPRANO and BASS positions for its adult choir.
Repertoire is selected from chant, polyphony, classical, romantic and contemporary classical.
The choral season runs SEPTEMBER 5, 2017 through JUNE 3, 2018. Thursday evening rehearsals 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Sunday morning rehearsal 10:00 a.m. for the 10:45 a.m. mass.
Additional rehearsals scheduled occasionally throughout the year.
Christmas Eve Midnight Mass/Christmas Morning and Holy Week/Easter are required with no substitution.
Additional opportunities exist: cantoring additional services, weddings, funerals; within the concert series, and oratorios performed by community chorus.
Requirements
• Clear, lyric voice
• Excellent sight-reading skills and intonation
• Significant training and experience as both soloist and ensemble singer
• Ability and willingness to blend with a small amateur choir
• Reliability
• Appreciation for music in church
