St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Trumbull, CT, has an established traditional church music program. The choir is composed of 35-40 singers, including four paid section leaders (SATB). The choir sings high quality literature ranging from Gregorian chant and polyphony through 21st century repertoire. Section leaders are expected to work well with volunteers, be able to lead sectionals, and have evenness of tone, excellent intonation and ability to sing straight tone when needed. • Extra services: Thanksgiving Service (Tuesday before Thanksgiving), Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Confirmation Mass, Tenebrae Service (Wednesday of Holy Week), Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, Easter Sunday, and Pentecost Vespers. Compensation varies.
• In addition, the quartet of sections leaders sings for a few Tridentine Masses during the year (Sundays at 2:30pm with a rehearsal at 1:00pm).
• Other opportunities for additional income: cantoring for funerals, weddings, and other weekend or special masses. Compensation varies.
Compensation: $140 per week (includes Wed. rehearsal and Sunday warm up and choir mass). Additional cantoring: $65 per call.
