Auditions will be held in September for singers who wish to join the Raincross Master Chorale, a 50-voice choral group directed by William Brakemeyer.
The first rehearsal for the new season will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Victoria Presbyterian Church, 6091 Victoria Ave., Riverside.
Auditions will be set by appointment for Sept. 5, 12 or 19. Contact Sandy Tarmo at 951-836-0760 cell, 951-794-7627 home or to set an audition time.
The group is especially in need of tenors and basses, but all voice parts are welcome to audition. “Singers need both the ability to read music and the ability to blend in an ensemble,” said Brakemeyer, artistic director. “We take on a variety of challenging music, and we also have a lot of fun.”
The group’s first concert of the season will be called “Sing Gloria!” It will be performed Sunday, Oct. 22 at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverside. Later concerts include holiday favorites with the Riverside County Philharmonic on Dec. 16 and 17; a Dickens-era Evensong Feb. 25; and a May 6 concert that will feature Disney classics.
In addition, some members of the group will be making a trip to New York in April to sing in Carnegie Hall in a performance of Ola Gjeilo’s Dreamweaver and Song of the Universal on the DCINY Concert Series. It is still possible to audition for the chorale and sign up for that trip.
The chorale raises money to give out scholarships to young singers.
