Paid Vocalist Positions Available – White Bear Lake United Methodist Church

White Bear Lake United Methodist Church in White Bear Lake, MN is seeking interested vocalists to audition for the WBLUMC Choral Scholar Program. All voice parts are welcome to apply. Four positions will be hired – one for each section of the choir.

Choral Scholars must: 
• have good sight reading skills, sharp aural acuity, a strong solo voice,
and vocal flexibility
• attend regular Wednesday evening rehearsals (7:30pm-9pm), Sunday morning
rehearsals, and Sunday morning services.
• periodically attend additional rehearsals prior to special services

Singers will receive a $40 stipend per call (Wednesday evening rehearsal counts as one call; Sunday morning rehearsal and service counts as one call) and will be paid monthly. The choir sings approximately three services a month from September through May, as well as occasional special services which will include Christmas Eve, Good Friday, and Easter. Special services, concerts and additional rehearsals will be paid at the same rate as regular rehearsals and services. Regular attendance is crucial.

Auditionees should prepare one piece of solo vocal music in a classical idiom (e.g., art song, opera, oratorio, etc.). An accompanist will be provided. A schedule for the first half of the church season is available upon request and/or will be provided at the audition.
