There is a new opportunity for children who love to sing, can match pitch, and would enjoy being in an ensemble with other committed singers from across the community. Youth Chorus of the North Shore has expanded to include Alegría, a select ensemble for 2nd – 5th graders.
Young singers in Alegría will receive instruction in note reading, musical vocabulary, and expressive techniques. Singers will also receive vocal training to help develop breath and pitch control, proper vowel placement, and healthy singing habits. They will learn diverse and challenging repertoire in a warm, joy-filled environment.
The chorus will be led by Lauren Sklar (MMus Northwestern), an experienced choral conductor who has previously conducted ensembles with Anima – Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus and the Music Institute of Chicago’s Youth Choirs.
Rehearsals for Alegría will be held on Wednesdays (4:15-5:45pm) in Evanston, starting in late September.
