Lycoming Baroque Choir and Orchestra is a semi-professional, community based outreach contingent of Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA. We are mostly comprised of singers and players from the Central Pennsylvania area, however our condensed rehearsal cycles are designed to encourage participation from commuters from other areas who are interested in early music, and available to join us for our typically 4-day cycles.
We hire soloists per-cycle, depending on the needs of the repertoire chosen. Soloists are asked to attend at least 3 of the 4 rehearsals, and to act as ringers/section leaders within the choir, as well as appearing as soloists. Depending on our repertoire, solos can be individual movements of cantatas, solo lines over choral parts, or sections of pieces that we have a solo quartet sing apart from the full group.
LBCO meets twice a year – once for a Fall cycle, and one for a Spring cycle.
We are currently accepting auditions for soloists for the Spring, 2017, or any future cycles.
A familiarity with Baroque performance practice and style is encouraged, but not required.
Singers are not required to be from the Lycoming area, but are required to be able to transport themselves here for cycles. If you need housing during the cycle, we can usually provide.
To audition please send a current resume and one recording of an aria or art song from the standard repertoire (Baroque or Classical period preferred) to:
