Ember has select openings!

March 10, 2020 by susanbaerscholaonhudson-org Leave a Comment

The Ember ensemble has immediate openings for one high soprano, one low bass, and one tenor for our May concert called “Voices of the Earth,” featuring the commissioned premiere of Eric Banks’ Famous Last Words, based on the award-winning book by Jared Diamond, Collapse. Singers interested in auditioning for these chairs are invited to reach out asap here.

Ember is an 8-part SATB ensemble for experienced singers who read music well. The ensemble stands out for its programming, which focuses on telling a meaningful story over the course of a full concert season. Artistic Director Deborah Simpkin King is well known for her new music advocacy and extensive collaboration with living composers.

Ember is now celebrating its 25th anniversary season with the theme of “Listening” — listening to each other with civility; listening to our own internal voices, and those often considered to be “on the fringe;” listening to the earth and to the universe; considering what lessons we can learn as we heighten our awareness and ability to listen on multiple levels. Remaining concerts of the season will be on May 16/17. To learn more about us, please visit our website, EmberEnsemble.org.
