Paid Choir Section Leaders – Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass
The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in reading music, both in various clefs as well as the full score. Candidates should have knowledge of styles of various eras in choral music, such as chant, polyphony and large SATB choral works of all eras, including spirituals.
The choir has routinely scheduled Wednesday evening rehearsals two times a month for two and a half hours throughout the year with the EXCEPTION of preparing for Christmas and Easter which usually runs twice a week leading up to two weeks. Rehearsals begin in August and the choir begins the season from September to May.
Additional and required programming as choristers includes:
Christmas Concert and Christmas at Midnight Mass
Holy Week Liturgies: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil
Solemnities of the Church
Fine Arts Series – Spiritual Concert in February 2020 and Seven Lasts Words of Christ on Good Friday 2020
Song Leader duties include:
Approximately once masses per month of song leader leadership both with and without a choir.
Weddings as assigned and accepted by the song leader
Holydays as assigned and accepted by the song leader
Compensation: Negotiable, however funerals and weddings are a fixed-rate stipend.
