Founded in 1946, the 110-voice Concord Chorus performs several concerts of choral-orchestral and smaller works each season. Auditions for all voice parts will be held during two open rehearsals on Mondays, September 10 and 17, 2018, from 7:30 to 10 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall (81 Elm Street) in Concord, Massachusetts. The audition consists of scales, ear and pitch memory exercises, and sight-reading in order to evaluate voice, ear, and reading abilities. A prepared piece is not required, but prior musical experience is expected.
The repertory of the Concord Chorus encompasses music from the 16th century to the present. This season’s concerts include Fauré’s Requiem with professional soloists and orchestra and music of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Samuel Barber, and Morten Lauridsen.
Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 10 PM and begin September 10, 2018. The Winter Holiday Concerts will be Saturday, December 8, 2018; and the Fauré concert will be Saturday, June 1, 2019.
