The Collegium Musicum of the Proto-Cathedral of Saint James the Greater, Vancouver, WA (http://protocathedral.org/sacred-music) is holding auditions for singers of all voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) in its 10-voice professional schola and sublist for the current 2018-2019 season.
The Collegium Musicum sings liturgical music spanning several centuries including Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, Viennese orchestral masses, and contemporary composers. The choir sings a polyphonic setting of the Mass Ordinary, chant, motets, anthems, and propers weekly.
The Collegium Musicum rehearses Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and sings for the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses. There are no weeknight rehearsals. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled occasionally throughout the year, but prior notice will be given. Additional calls for weddings, funerals, and vespers services are available throughout the year. All singers are paid a highly competitive stipend per call.
Christmas Eve midnight mass and Holy Week/Easter are required for full paid positions. Excellent skill in sight reading and the desire to sing in a chamber ensemble are of utmost importance. Extensive choral experience is necessary.
