The Christ Church Adult Choir is holding auditions to fill 8 new volunteer positions (2 singers per part). The Adult Choir is composed of volunteer and professional singers and sings music of the Anglican Cathedral tradition at an advanced level. Expectations of its choir members include proficient musicianship (the ability to tune and sight-read quickly), straight-tone singing, punctuality, and a love for sacred choral music. Primary responsibilities of the Adult Choir include a weekly rehearsal (Wed 7-9pm), and weekly Sunday morning service (9:55 call, 11am Service), as well as occasional Saturday rehearsals, concerts, and monthly choral evensong. Examples of composers from the choir’s typical weekly repertoire include Howells, Stanford, Wood, Walton, Tavener, Purcell, and Tallis, and they regularly sing major works such as the Requiems by Duruflé, Howells, and Fauré, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Walton’s Coronation Te Deum, Rutter’s Dancing Day, and Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. Singing in the Christ Church Adult Choir offers singers a fast-paced, advanced choral experience in a sacred setting.
Auditions will include a prepared choral piece, sight-reading, ear-training exercises, and vocalization. To request an audition, please send an email including your previous choral experience and which part you sing to .
