Catholic Cantor (male) needed in Los Angeles

A small, neighborhood Catholic Church in Atwater Village is in need of a

male

cantor, beginning in late April.
One English mass per Sunday, plus some annual occurrences, such as New Year’s Day, Easter Triduum, Confirmation, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Eve. Rehearsals may be required for some special events.
A quick, informal audition will be required. This position offers a weekly stipend, to be discussed with the pastor. Occasional Sundays off (within reason) are not a problem.

Required:
• Experience in cantoring in the Catholic Church
• Thorough knowledge of the order of mass
• A pleasing, lyrical voice
• Able to lead the assembly in hymns, songs, and acclamations, as well as teach the assembly new music as needed.

Other:
• Able to accompany as a substitute keyboardist not required, but a big plus.
• Spanish-speaking not required, but a big plus. (Some songs are bilingual.)
