Caritas Chamber Chorale seeks singers, especially Altos, to audition for its 2016-2017 season.
In general singers should:
1. Have some experience in choral singing
2. Have some understanding of music reading and the language of music
3. Have a sense of vocal technique for choral singing (can be assessed at the audition)
4. Have a heart for the mission of Caritas – “Caritas Chamber Chorale is dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor through the art of sacred music.”
The audition will involve:
1. Vocalizing your complete range
2. Singing any song of your choice (please bring something)
3. Fairly simple sight reading
4. A short interview/conversation to get to know you
Caritas Chamber Chorale typically rehearses on Friday evenings in Bridgewater, with some exceptions.
Performances in 2016-2017 will be in November, December, possibly January, February and June. Performances of a particular program are often repeated in various locations during a concert weekend. In some cases, singers may opt out for a particular session, if necessary.
There is no financial obligation to participate as a singer in Caritas, although you are responsible for your own transportation and concert attire (black suits for men, long black dress or skirt and top for women).
Singers are expected to inform the director of any rehearsals they must miss prior to the start of a session, or in an emergency, prior to the rehearsal.
Auditions will be held by appointment in August and early September. Please contact Barbara Sanderman at or (732) 718-0775 to schedule an audition.
