28th Concert Season, 2016-2017
The South Bend Chamber Singers, Michiana’s premier vocal chamber ensemble,
announce auditions for experienced singers.
Concerts for the coming year include a performance of the Vivaldi Gloria with the South Bend Symphony on October 23. Christmas at Loretto takes place on December 18th, showcasing new music for the season performed in a great acoustical space and featuring the world premieres of new works by British composer Ben Parry and South Bend composer John Griffith, along with favorite carols in new arrangements. On April 23rd we will present the Indiana premiere of British composer James Whitbourn’s Annelies, the first major choral setting of The Diary of Anne Frank. This concert will take place at Temple Beth-El the evening before Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Our final concert of the season takes place on May 21 at the Church of Loretto. Misatango! features a Latin mass setting by the Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri in the style of Tango Nuevo with Ben Bogart, bandoneonist, and other works by Alberto Ginastera and Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Auditions will be held August 28-September 4 in Room 309 Moreau Center for the Arts on the Saint Mary’s College campus. Singers should bring a prepared solo, and sight-reading and aural abilities will be tested. An accompanist is provided.
